This sculpture was inspired by a niche of independent Japanese artists who create minimalistic furniture out of found wood that served no purpose beforehand. Thus, it's created entirely out of wood I found thrown away outside construction sites.

The biggest influence for this piece was Hiroyuki Nishimura, a Japanese artist who scavenges wood destined for disposal. To me, this piece also represents a great concept of Japanese philosophy: Wabi-Sabi, the acceptance and embracement of imperfection.
