Etching with oil ink

20 x 24 inches – Prints 2/18, 4/18, 6/18, 8/18, 11/18, and 13/18

I created a digital collage design of traditional Japanese tattoos (‘Irezumi’) appropriating mugshots and high-quality photos of real Yakuza members, and then etched steel plates that I used to craft the “Beautiful Guilt” steel torso. With one of the extra steel plates I had, I decided to pull etching prints using black oil etching paint on Stonehenge printmaking paper. The prints have an aged look to them, inspired by the time frame of the art they carry.
