This sculpture is a concept for a Japanese warrior’s bag, that maybe would have been worn by Samurai in the past. It has a compartment that can be opened and closed and used to store items inside. It is shaped like a Gunbai, a Japanese war fan used by Samurai officers to send commands and guide their troops.

The traditional Gunbai is fairly small, to be able to be handled single-handedly. However, I wanted to make it on a larger scale to attract the attention such a unique historical object deserves.

I also added a compartment that opens and closes, so that the gunbai sculpture is hollow and could be used to store items inside.
